Vera and Cam Camarena are the founders behind Quinta Camarena, a unique sustainable eco resort in Alentejo, Portugal. Vera, originally from Porto, Portugal, brings a wealth of international experience from the textile and fashion industry, including leadership roles in retail design and visual merchandising across European, American, and Asian markets for top brands. Cam, a native of Los Angeles, California, is a celebrated professional photographer who spent two decades capturing moments for major artists, fashion brands, and celebrities in New York. Their paths converged in NYC, where a shared love for travel, the ocean, and surfing sparked a dream to create a sanctuary.

Leaving behind demanding global careers, they found their calling in Cercal, Portugal, transforming a restored farmhouse into Quinta Camarena. Cam, the creative soul, infuses the space with stunning interior design, artwork, and lush landscaping, while Vera meticulously curates every detail, from handmade blankets to local artisanal touches.

Together, they invite you to experience their dream—a haven where wellness, wine, and genuine hospitality intertwine amidst the breathtaking Alentejo landscape. Surrounded by nature in the quaint rural town of Cercal do Alentejo, only 15 minutes from unspoiled coastline and secret beaches, Quinta Camarena is a laid-back yet stylish sanctuary for surfers, yoga enthusiasts, hikers, as well as foodies and wine appreciators. It’s the perfect destination for travelers seeking a connection with nature and a blend of wellness, pleasure and comfort.

Relaxing and not taking yourself too seriously is mandatory at Quinta Camarena’s “Not-So-Serious Retreat”. Whether you’re traveling solo, with friends, or as a couple, the retreat offers the perfect balance of activeness and relaxation. Energizing yoga classes are complemented by surf lessons, adventurous hikes, visits to local artisans, and gourmet, organic meals served with natural wines. You’ll stretch, breathe, and build strength on the mat—then take that flow straight to the waves. Whether you’re new to yoga, surfing, or both, this is your space to learn, laugh, and feel good.
