Visit Tuolumne County

Wapama Falls

Visit Tuolumne County announced the launch of its newest program, the Trail Heads, designed to help visitors enjoy the outdoors and serve as a resource for hikers, bikers, horseback riders and all trail enthusiasts. The program includes a downloadable map of the top 12 trails in Tuolumne County, a landing page with an expanded interactive map of trails and the ability for visitors to earn badges as they complete trails.
“The Trail Heads program brings in a stronger sense of community and inspires repeat visits as there are so many beautiful trails to explore in Tuolumne County,” said Lisa Mayo, president and CEO of Visit Tuolumne County. “The program also provides an opportunity to promote responsible recreation as it reminds visitors to stay on trails, be safe, respect the wildlife and leave no trace.”
EARN YOUR BADGES
As outdoor enthusiasts complete the trails, they can earn badges to show off their hard work. Five levels of badges include Trail Scout (one trail completed), Intermediate Explorer (five trails completed), Advanced Adventurer (10 trails completed), Pioneer Trekker (25 trails completed) and Master Mountaineer (50 trails completed). To request a digital badge, visitors will need to fill out a form on VisitTCToday.com/TrailHeads with the number and names of trails completed. Participants will also be encouraged to share their badges on social media.
VARIETY OF OPTIONS

The Trail Heads program includes a variety of popular locations and cities within the county such as Yosemite National Park, Stanislaus National Forest, Columbia, Jamestown, and more, to help visitors navigate through an abundance of trail options the destination offers. The map of the top 12 trails also provides explorers with details such as length, difficulty and route type of each trail to help them find something that suits their needs. Travelers can also pick up a hard copy of the map at the Visit Tuolumne County Visitor Center in downtown Sonora.
