The Inn of The Five Graces Announces the Addition of Red Door

Marked by a Historic Society plaque, the Roque Tudesqui House predates the Spanish colonial adobe era. A portion of the structure was constructed using puddled adobe, an Indigenous building technique in which mud was packed by hand rather than formed into the adobe bricks introduced by Spanish colonizers after 1609. Local tradition holds that part of the structure may even be a remnant of the ancient Pueblo that occupied the site as early as the 1200s.

The villa takes its name from the distinctive red gate that has long concealed the residence from the street. Beyond it, guests enter a home that brings together centuries-old architecture and the richly layered design language for which The Inn of The Five Graces is known. Interiors reflect the signature Seret & Sons aesthetic, with rare antiques, custom textiles and intricate hand-laid mosaics sourced from around the world.

At the center of Red Door is a light-filled primary bedroom anchored by an ornate king bed. A separate second bedroom overlooks a secluded courtyard, while the expansive living room features a custom sectional and adobe style gas fireplace. An elegant dining room seats eight to ten, creating an intimate setting for private meals and gatherings, complemented by a kitchenette and separate powder room. The full bathroom offers a deep soaking tub, walk-in shower and the artisan mosaic work, a signature of owners Sylvia and Ira Seret, and synonymous with The Five Graces.

The villa’s sense of privacy extends outdoors, with two private landscaped courtyards and a back deck opening onto a shared tranquil garden. The gated entrance and secluded outdoor spaces give Red Door the feeling of a private Santa Fe residence while providing access to the service and amenities of The Inn of The Five Graces.

Bedrooms and common spaces in Red Door showcase the original architecture of the historic home alongside custom furniture, vintage textiles, and antique rugs.

Today, its preservation continues as part of The Inn of The Five Graces. One of the property’s most beloved features is its spectacular wisteria, which erupts into cascades of purple each June and has become one of the city’s most photographed sights. The wisteria is protected by a permanent preservation easement ensuring it remains part of the historic property for generations to come.
