The Hotel Guide Launches THG Hospitality Index™ to Help Define the Future of Luxury & Boutique Hospitality

The Hotel Guide today announced the launch of the THG Hospitality Index™, a proprietary evaluation framework created to help luxury and boutique hospitality brands measure the factors that increasingly define long-term authority, differentiation, and market influence.

Developed from more than three decades of hospitality experience and extensive analysis of luxury hotels, resorts, and destinations around the world, the THG Hospitality Index™ moves beyond traditional rankings and awards to evaluate the strategic qualities that shape enduring brands.

“Luxury hospitality has never looked better,” said Edward R. Leos, CEO and Publisher of The Hotel Guide. “Yet many brands have never looked more similar. Beautiful design and exceptional amenities remain essential, but they are no longer enough to create lasting distinction. The brands that will lead the next decade are those that build authority, emotional connection, and a story guests remember long after checkout.”

The THG Hospitality Index™ evaluates eight strategic pillars:

  • Narrative Differentiation
  • Emotional Positioning
  • Cultural Identity
  • Executive Visibility
  • Experience Originality
  • Editorial Readiness
  • Digital Authority
  • Partnership Alignment

Rather than measuring popularity or guest satisfaction alone, the Index is designed to identify how effectively a hospitality brand communicates its purpose, differentiates its experience, and strengthens its long-term position within an increasingly competitive luxury travel landscape.

The launch coincides with the release of The Hotel Guide’s Summer 2026 Edition, which showcases a curated collection of luxury hotels, boutique properties, destinations, and hospitality leaders while introducing the Index as a foundational element of The Hotel Guide’s editorial and strategic platform.

In the coming months, The Hotel Guide will begin publishing THG Hospitality Index™ evaluations, executive insights, industry trends, and strategic observations designed to help hospitality organizations strengthen brand authority and better connect with today’s experience-driven traveler.

“The THG Hospitality Index™ is not about identifying who has the nicest property,” added Leos. “It’s about identifying who is building the strongest brand for the future.”
