The Hotel Guide Global 100 is Coming
October 6, 2026 · Edward Leos
100 hotels. Six continents. One global standard for hospitality authority.
For more than 33 years, The Hotel Guide has covered the places, people and experiences shaping travel. Over that time, hospitality has changed dramatically. Beautiful design is no longer enough. A great location is no longer enough. Even strong service, which should be expected at the highest levels of hospitality, is no longer enough to separate one property from another.
The hotels standing out today are doing something more. They are creating experiences people remember, building stories people want to share and developing a clear sense of place that cannot easily be replicated somewhere else. They are also building authority beyond the walls of the hotel itself, through editorial relevance, digital presence, leadership visibility and the ability to create real traveler demand.
That thinking is what led us to create the 2026 “The Hotel Guide Global 100”, powered by the THG Hospitality Index™.
The Global 100 is not intended to be another list of attractive hotels. There are already plenty of those. Our goal is to recognize the properties doing the deeper work of building relevance, distinction and long-term authority in a hospitality landscape that is becoming more competitive by the day.

Through the THG Hospitality Index™, we evaluate hotels across narrative strength, emotional connection, cultural relevance, executive visibility, experience originality, editorial readiness, digital authority and partnership alignment. Together, those areas help us understand not simply whether a hotel is good, but whether it has created a position that travelers, media, advisors and increasingly AI-driven discovery platforms can recognize and trust.
That distinction matters because the way travelers discover hotels has changed. A guest may first encounter a property through social media, a magazine story, Google, ChatGPT, a trusted advisor or a recommendation from someone they know. Visibility can create awareness, but awareness alone does not create authority. Authority is built over time through consistency, experience, story and reputation.
The 2026 Hotel Guide Global 100 brings together 100 properties across six continents that we believe are helping define where hospitality is going next. Some are globally recognized icons. Others are independent hotels quietly doing exceptional work. Some lead through design, some through wellness, some through food and culture, and others through service, experience or a deep connection to place.
They do not all look the same, and they should not. What connects them is something deeper: a clear understanding of who they are, what they stand for and why a traveler should care.
That is where hospitality is heading. Luxury is becoming less about accumulation and more about how a place makes someone feel. The strongest hotels understand that they are not simply selling rooms. They are creating reasons to travel.
The complete 2026 Global 100 will be featured in The Hotel Guide’s upcoming Global 100 Awards Edition, alongside our 2026 Hotels of the Year and category award winners. Those recognitions will include Global Hotel of the Year, six Continental Hotels of the Year, Boutique Hotel of the Year, Hotel Worth Traveling For, Wellness Hotel of the Year, Safari Lodge of the Year, Cultural Hospitality Leader, Independent Hotel of the Year and AI Authority Leader.
For us, the Global 100 is bigger than a single award cycle. We want it to become an ongoing platform for identifying, studying and elevating the hotels shaping modern hospitality. That means paying attention to the properties building meaningful traveler demand, the independent hotels earning global relevance without becoming generic and the leaders creating experiences strong enough to become part of a larger conversation around wellness, culture, design, place and travel itself.
Over the coming weeks, we will share more about the methodology behind the Global 100, the properties selected and the ideas shaping this year’s Awards Edition.
This is not about creating another ranking for the sake of having one.
It is about recognizing hotels with a clear point of view, a memorable experience and a reason for travelers to care.
Hotels worth remembering. Hotels worth talking about. And ultimately, hotels worth traveling for.
