Intercontinental Indianapolis Set To Debut This Winter in Landmark Building

InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, part of IHG Hotels & Resorts‘ luxury and lifestyle portfolio, is thrilled to announce InterContinental Indianapolis will open this winter. Located steps from the iconic Monument Circle and the Indiana State Capitol, the property will redefine hospitality in Indianapolis.

As the first luxury hotel to open in nearly two decades, the hotel will feature 170 elegantly appointed guest rooms and suites, complemented by two new dining concepts including the first rooftop bar of its kind for the city, a 24-hour fitness center, 5,000 square feet of event and meeting space and the city’s only Penthouse Suite on a private floor with spectacular views of Monument Circle.

Locally developed and owned by Keystone Group, InterContinental Indianapolis is housed in the historic Illinois Building that was originally built in 1926. Following a $110 million restoration, InterContinental Indianapolis will merge timeless style and the city’s signature Hoosier Hospitality, becoming a premier destination in Indianapolis.

The Illinois Building, located at the center of downtown Indy, was listed as one of the state’s 10 most endangered landmarks until being purchased by Keystone Group. With the addition of an entire floor, the now 11-story hotel features a granite and limestone exterior with Moderne bas relief panels and topped with gold-glazed terra cotta cornice. Facets of the building’s original ornate lobby have been preserved which will seamlessly blend in with a new contemporary canopy. Guests will enter the hotel through opulent brass doors along with intricate brass grillwork set against alabaster panels. Other stand-out design details include a grand staircase in the second-floor lounge space and curated art all by local Indiana artists commissioned exclusively for InterContinental Indianapolis.

“We are thrilled to open our doors soon in downtown Indianapolis and bring this historic property to life,” said Michael Moros, general manager of InterContinental Indianapolis. “The Illinois Building is a true city landmark, making it the perfect fit for what we are creating. Both local guests and those traveling to Indy can soon experience the exceptional luxury service and hospitality the InterContinental brand is known for throughout the world.”

InterContinental Indianapolis will offer personal and attentive service when it opens its doors with a dedicated full-service concierge. The concierge will provide insider expertise, cultural connections and help guests embrace and explore Indianapolis. When not exploring the destination, travelers can enjoy in-room amenities including Nespresso Machines, curated mini bars and Bal D’Afrique scented amenities by BYREDO. With the combination of attentive service and refined in-room comforts, InterContinental Indianapolis promises to be a premier destination for sophisticated travelers seeking both relaxation and exploration.

Indiana culinary icon Chef Craig Baker will serve as the hotel’s Executive Chef. Baker will oversee all food and beverage offerings including the launch of Serliana Café, on the hotel’s second floor, and the new Astrea Rooftop Bar. Astrea will be the highest rooftop bar in Indianapolis and provide stunning never-before-seen views of Monument Circle and the Indiana State Capitol in the cosmopolitan center of the city. Guests can also enjoy prime fare at Hyde Park Steakhouse, located on the ground floor of the hotel.
