Atlantic City- More than just the East Coast’s Gaming Capital

Atlantic City may be known as the Gaming Capital of the East Coast, but as a popular summer destination, it offers a whole lot more than world-class casino resorts.
Along with all the exciting gaming action, luxurious hotel rooms, and extraordinary amenities (including celebrity-inspired restaurants, trendy nightclubs, spa oases, and more), Atlantic City boasts a sizzling entertainment lineup and more ways to play than there are hours in the day!
From superstar beach concerts, posh pool parties, and outdoor recreation to the world-famous Boardwalk, family-attractions, and popular annual summer events, August is the perfect time to visit this legendary seaside destination and explore all the incredible possibilities.
Hot August Entertainment
You’ve never experienced a beach concert until you’ve been to one on Atlantic City’s glorious beach. August features multiple such events, kicking off with prolific jam band Phish performing three shows by the scenic sand, sun and surf (August 5-7), followed by the three-day Tidal Wave Music Festival (August 12-14), featuring over 30 country music performers, including superstars Luke Bryan, Morgan Wallen and Dierks Bentley.
One of the biggest events of the summer, the annual Atlantic City Airshow is back Wednesday, August 24, showcasing a variety of thrilling performers with great views from the free beaches and Boardwalk.
The world’s premier midweek beachfront airshow, the event draws more than 500,000 spectators annually. Acts include multiple military and civilian high-performance aircraft and helicopters from across the country.
Free Shows…
All summer long, you can catch free shows on the Atlantic City Boardwalk at Kennedy Plaza three days a week. The free Boardwalk Entertainment Series includes Broadway on the Boardwalk (Mondays), with the casts of today’s hottest Broadway musicals performing their biggest hits live; Mardi Gras AC (Wednesdays), featuring concerts from national acts in a N’awlins-style atmosphere; and the Chicken Bone Beach Jazz Series (Thursdays).
Along with all the music headliners in town in August, including shows by such artists as Alicia Keys (August 6, Hard Rock), Steely Dan (August 6, The Borgata), and Rod Stewart (August 19, Hard Rock), Atlantic City also features all-star comedy shows and many ongoing summer events.
‘Jurassic’ Family-Friendly Events
If you’re looking for a family-friendly getaway this summer, Atlantic City is hosting several events that cater to all ages through Labor Day.
Experience the popular touring dinosaur event Jurassic Quest (August 5-7, AC Convention Center), the nationally acclaimed Beyond Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience (Hard Rock, through Aug. 28), Masters of Illusion (Harrah’s, through Sept. 4), LuminoCity Dino Safari (Absecon Lighthouse, through Sept. 5) and the Super American Circus (Showboat, through Sept. 5).
Combined with attractions like the historic Steel Pier amusement park, Ripley’s Believe It Or Not! Museum, and Absecon Lighthouse – the tallest lighthouse in New Jersey – there are endless ways for the entire family to play in Atlantic City!
‘Sweet’ Summer Things
Atlantic City’s unrivaled dining scene offers stellar culinary options year-round, but there is nothing sweeter than summer in Atlantic City.
Not only can you dine out on a deck or by the beach and Boardwalk, but you can satisfy your sweet tooth with ice cream creations and other mouth-watering desserts at Ocean Casino’s new Serendipity 3, the Sugar Factory at the Hard Rock, and more.
